About Emily
I know first hand just how stressful the medical school application process can be, so I want to support other students going through the same experience. I am a first year Medical Student at the University of Manchester and received 4/4 medical school offers during my application, with two coming within a week of my interviews. I have recent experience with both MMI style and group interviews, including formats similar to the HYMS application process. I understand the positives and negatives of different interview approaches, as well as some of the common mistakes applicants can make, and can offer practical advice based on my own experience. I want students to feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes without feeling judged. I know how daunting the process can feel, so my aim is to create a supportive environment where students can build their confidence while getting honest and constructive feedback.

My approach to tutoring is friendly, supportive and tailored to each student. I want lessons to feel relaxed and approachable while still being focused and productive. I will first understand where the student is in the application process and what they feel they need help with, then build lessons around their individual goals.
For medical school admissions, I can offer mock interviews, interview preparation, personal statement guidance, work experience advice and help with creating a strong and strategic university application. I can also offer packages combining these areas for students who would like support throughout the whole application process. Having received 4/4 medical school offers myself, including two offers within the same week of interviewing, I can share the strategies and techniques that helped me throughout my own application.
I have previous experience tutoring GCSE subjects, as well as coaching cheerleading and netball. These experiences have helped me develop my communication skills and taught me how to adapt my teaching style to different students. I aim to explain things clearly, encourage students to think for themselves, and give constructive feedback so they can continue improving between lessons.
Lessons would typically be around 1 hour, although this can be adapted depending on the student and the type of session. For example, a mock interview may benefit from a slightly longer session to allow time for feedback afterwards.
My lessons are aimed at students applying to medical school, and I am also happy to work with students at different stages of the application process, whether they are just starting to think about medicine or are preparing for interviews.

Mock MMI interview - £30/hour. A realistic MMI style mock interview followed by personalised written feedback highlighting strengths, areas for improvement and practical tips for your next interview.
Medical school admissions package - £100. Includes:
2 × 1-hour personalised tutoring sessions covering any combination of strategic applications, personal statements, work experience, interview preparation and medical school research
