About Daphne
Hello! My name is Daphne, and I'm super excited about the prospect of tutoring over the summer. I suppose the best way I can describe myself is a sort of nerd-jock hybrid. I love playing football, and I love learning. I have a strong belief that most people who hate school don't actually particularly dislike learning; they just have been let down by stubborn teachers or the non-curricular horrors of high school. Most people can agree how satisfying it is to finally understand a concept, even if a lightbulb doesn't actually appear above your head like in cartoons. My goal here is to maximize the amount of those moments, and if that sounds like something you're interested in, then I would love to help you out!

My personal philosophy of teaching involves breaking down complex ideas into fundamental principles that are taught so young that a student could never possibly forget them. Operating under this methodology allows the student to reconcile these bite-sized concepts in a way that makes sense to them, instead of prescribing them a preestablished method that feels completely foreign. At the end of the day, I'll know I have done my job right when I can ask my student to annotate a calculation, and the way they explain it is different from how I would.
I have experience with peer tutoring through my former high school and have taught English abroad in Germany. I am open to tutoring maths for students in any year level in high school/college, and the length of lessons is completely up to the student!
