About Olivia
Hello! My names Olivia and I have a 1st class honours degree in Psychology & Sociology. Not only do I love to stay engaged with academics for my own learning but I also enjoy sharing knowledge and skills when it comes to academics. I tutor for students from GCSE level through to Degree level (including dissertation preparations) and have many skills that allow students to reach their academic potential. I have volunteered in tutoring for my University in the past and have experience in helping students structure academic essays with guidance on what to include based on their topic area- most notably my skills include tutoring students In critical analysis. I am well versed in reading material relating to sociology and psychology including typical modules included in this and excel at providing original ideas on research and theory suitable for academic debate.
In recent years I have become a proactive award winning Equality Champion that is dedicated to instilling knowledge and inclusion in the spaces we occupy. With particular specialised knowledge in race & culture, I have experience liaising with senior leadership teams, delivering talks at conferences and creating a variety of educational content.

SOCIOLOGY: I am adaptable to a range of teaching styles to suit individual needs and base my teaching methods on two main areas. These include understanding theory and practice and making this applicable to the desired structures of the assessment in hand. The effectiveness of this includes grounding students with knowledge of subject material through accessible understanding and examples. The extent of this understanding is then practiced by applying the knowledge to the structure and format of academic writing.
I am currently employed as a financial well-being coach, identifying skill gaps for people furthest from the labour market. This experience further equipped me to be flexible in my teaching style and delivering a person centred approach to my support.
