About Adam
I hold a First Class Biochemistry degree from the University of Bristol and am currently pursuing a Master’s in the Biology of Ageing at the University of Cologne, as part of the highly competitive ImAGEin programme. Educated in the UK, I achieved the best GCSE results in my school and went on to secure A*AA at A level. Alongside my academic background, I have over 5 years of experience as a private tutor in Maths, Biology, and Chemistry. My students have gone on to achieve excellent results, including A* grades at A level and grade 9s at GCSE. I have worked with a wide range of students aged 12 to 19, and can confidently teach both within and beyond the UK curriculum.

I teach Maths, Biology, and Chemistry, and I’ve been tutoring for over 5 years. I believe learning works best when it feels more like a conversation, which is why I use the Socratic method of teaching. This technique is centred around asking questions and encouraging curiosity. The idea is to guide the student step by step so they discover ideas, patterns, and solutions on their own. My lessons are structured but never rigid. I adapt to each student’s needs, set clear goals, and create a supportive space where it’s okay to make mistakes and learn from them. The aim isn’t just to pass exams, but to build lasting confidence and understanding of the subject. I’m deeply passionate about encouraging engagement and curiosity in science, and I run a blog about this. References from satisfied previous parents and students are available upon request.

Adam had helped me many times through the years.
I’ve known Adam for several years and can confidently say he’s an excellent and trustworthy tutor. His passion for biology really shows in the way he teaches — he makes even the most complex topics clear and engaging. Adam is patient, organised, and always takes the time to ensure his students fully understand each concept before moving on. He’s also great at building confidence, encouraging curiosity, and adapting his approach to suit different learning styles. I’d highly recommend Adam to anyone looking for a supportive and knowledgeable biology tutor.
Really reliable, easy to get on with, and always respectful. Great communication and a positive attitude. Would definitely recommend him.
Adam helped me get an A in Chemistry and an A* in Maths A-level, up from my predicted grades of 2 Bs! He really knows his stuff and explains topics clearly and slowly, which is useful for me because I sometimes need things repeated. I’m going on to study economics at Glasgow but my little sister has just started with him for GCSEs and I know he will be great for her. Highly recommended!
I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Adam for several years, meeting at university and bonding over our passion for life sciences.
Adam is an incredibly patient and insightful person. He has a deep and genuine interest in the subject. This comes through in every discussion we have had, often turning into long, thought-provoking debates that could easily go on for hours. His understanding of biology is broad and has a rare talent for explaining complex ideas in a clear, engaging, and relatable way.
Beyond academia, Adam is professional, trustworthy, and reliable. He always sees the best in others and brings this out in them, making him not just a great tutor but someone genuinely inspiring to learn from.
If you’re looking for someone who is not only knowledgable but also kind, dedicated, and deeply invested in helping others understand biology, I can’t recommend Adam highly enoughAdam has a warm, endearing manner and is tremendously articulate. He speaks with a great clarity, even when discussing complex matters, and is a very dedicated person who will take all tutoring tasks seriously.
