About Susanna
Hi. My name is Susanna and I have studied French and German since I was 11 and 14. I have a degree in both subjects and have spent time living in both France and Germany.
As an English language assistant in French schools, I gained 7 months of tutoring experience. Following that, I have assisted my brothers in learning German. As an Au Pair in Germany, I was responsible for teaching the elder children English and the youngest child a mixture of English and German. I would correct them during speaking and explain why certain grammatical structures and/or vocabulary should be used in specific contexts.
My teaching style is very flexible and adapted to each student. I believe strongly in the power of conversational work, as this is the best way to get you thinking in another language. I am happy to go through and correct self-written work, explaining any errors. For grammar, I would provide worksheets and repeat exercises to help the student absorb the rules and remember them. Listening/oral practice can largely be done through conversational work and depending on the students level, I can adapt my language level so that it is challenging but not impossible! Most important is to find a way of learning that suits the student so they can fulfil their learning potential.
As a former GCSE (2015) and A-level student (2017), I can easily re-learn the exam styles and subjects of the curriculum. I would be happy to share my old notes and go through exam questions to see what the board is looking for to get top marks.
