About Elise
I am an experienced Guitar tutor with more than 9 years of teaching college students. My approach to teaching guitar is simple, clear, and practical. I focus on helping students enjoy learning while steadily improving their playing skills.
My teaching style is supportive and interactive. I take time to understand each student’s learning pace, musical taste, and goals. Based on this, I design lessons that are easy to follow and engaging. I believe students learn best when lessons connect to real music they love.
I use innovative methods such as song-based learning, guided practice routines, and technique-focused exercises. I break down complex guitar techniques into small, manageable steps so students do not feel overwhelmed. I also use visual explanations and rhythm exercises to make learning smoother.
In my classes, students learn chords, scales, strumming, fingerpicking, and basic music theory in a practical way. I also introduce improvisation and creative playing to help students develop confidence and musical thinking.
I encourage regular practice through clear goals and feedback. I create a positive learning space where students feel motivated and comfortable. My aim is to help college students become independent guitar players who can play confidently, understand music deeply, and enjoy expressing themselves through the guitar.

My teaching methodology for Guitar combines creativity, critical thinking, mentorship, and accountability. I focus on helping students find their own musical style while building strong technical skills. I encourage them to improvise, compose, and approach songs in new ways.
Critical thinking is key in my lessons. I help students understand chord progressions, scales, and song structures so they can make musical decisions independently. This approach strengthens their ability to learn any song or style effectively.
I practise accountability by helping students set achievable goals, maintain regular practice habits, and track their growth. Celebrating progress, no matter how small, keeps students motivated and confident.
Besides Guitar, I also teach music theory, composition, and ear training, providing a well-rounded foundation in music. Lessons are flexible, creative, and student-centred, ensuring that learning is both productive and enjoyable.
My aim is to mentor students to become confident, independent musicians who can create and perform music with passion and skill.
