About MAXINE
I have a passion for English: literature, poetry, writing and oral presentation. I have taught in various capacities, at different schools, in Port Elizabeth and Johannesburg, since 1992. the FET phase (Grade 10 to 12) has been my focus for the last 12 years or so (see CV below) but I am willing to help any high school learners, whether they study English as a Home Language or a second or third additional language. I love writing and poetry as well as reading and all forms of literature and have taught modern novels and classics and also film study, which is a lot of fun! With some guidance on structure and planning most high school pupils can be taught to write good essays, both creative, factual and literary.

I believe that one-on-one encouragement and guidance in writing and studying English is of vital importance and have seen the value and improvement in students, particularly in the tutoring realm. I would love to assist you to reach your full creative potential! There is a love of beautiful expression in all of us! But in the world in which we live, it is also essential to master the art of structure and brevity, whether in debate or transactional writing, the world of art or business. A good grasp of language provides a foundation for studying many other subjects.
